Hell Yeah! The Horror of the Bible
The Bible contains dark and disturbing stories. In fact, some of humanity's most enduring tales of ghosts and demons, murder and mayhem, can be found within the pages of holy scripture. Many modern readers have no idea what to do with this blood-curdling biblical content. Some pious readers do their best to ‘read around’ it (with a vague sense of embarrassment on God’s behalf), while antagonistic readers can regard such texts as proof that the Bible can’t possibly have anything to say of lasting spiritual value. We want horror kept cleanly apart from our sacred traditions.
But what if we stopped resisting the Bible’s inclusion of such stories? What if we regarded their presence as a valuable feature in scripture instead of a problem? What if we assumed that God can and does speak to us through the literary language of Horror?

The Hell Yeah! comic series was created by Church of the Advent in Cincinnati, Ohio through their Advent Workshop initiative. Church of the Advent believes that the arts are not mere ornamentation but a vital medium through which God communicates with the world. We believe that there are dimensions of divine truth that can be spoken only through artistic expression. For this reason, we seek to cultivate creativity in all its forms, recognizing imagination as essential to the life of faith and to the ongoing task of discerning what it means to follow Christ in our time.
