Hell Yeah! The Vampires of the Bible
Are vampires numbered among the monsters, ghouls, and other dark spirits lurking in the pages of the Bible? Might they be hiding in the margins of scriptural tales, or even within the dimly lit and cobweb-strewn corners of our own churches? How can we make sense of biblically bloody tales alongside the sight of pious Christians lining up every Sunday morning to...ritually drink blood? Ready your crucifix, sharpen your stakes, and read on to learn what truly lurks in the shadows!
Illustrated in a graphic-novel/comic book style!
***These comics are designed for older teens and adults***
From Church of the Advent, Cincinnati
The Hell Yeah! comic series was created by Church of the Advent in Cincinnati, Ohio through their Advent Workshop initiative. Church of the Advent believes that the arts are not mere ornamentation but a vital medium through which God communicates with the world. We believe that there are dimensions of divine truth that can be spoken only through artistic expression. For this reason, we seek to cultivate creativity in all its forms, recognizing imagination as essential to the life of faith and to the ongoing task of discerning what it means to follow Christ in our time.
The arts invite us to perceive truth more deeply, to give voice to gratitude, to lament loss, to nurture hope, and to participate in God’s creative work of healing and transformation. We are committed to celebrating the arts in worship, in service, and in daily life—creating spaces where beauty, invention, and expression are welcomed; supporting artists and creative practices; and engaging the arts to nourish the collective imagination of our neighborhood, our city, and our world.
Advent Workshop serves as the umbrella for all of Church of the Advent’s arts and media initiatives. Through the Workshop, we are developing a library of resources designed to nurture imagination and foster learning around issues of faith, theology, Bible, ecology, and more.
